About
Anand Vallamsetla is an Applied AI engineering leader and the founder of Exponential OS. He was most recently Engineer in Residence at AI Fund, Andrew Ng's venture studio, building AI products 0 to 1, and before that spent six years as a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Google. Across 20+ years -- at Google, on enterprise platforms, and as a startup founder -- he has lived the pre-PMF grind firsthand: running sharp experiments, doing the unscalable things, and surviving multiple pivots through the "messy middle."
He also got his own ICP wrong. He had one written down before he had customers, confident and specific and mid-market, then shipped a public beta page with no paid spend and read the company-size field on every real signup that came through it. The signal pointed at solo operators and teams under ten instead, so he rewrote the positioning to match the data rather than the document.
Known as "The Why Man" for a first-principles lens on responsible AI, he also teaches 1,500+ Fortune 500 executives at UC Berkeley on AI system design. He brings an operator's scars and a builder's bias toward shipping over theorising.
